TULARE, Calif. — A massive dust storm swept across Central California on Monday, dramatically reducing visibility and surprising residents throughout the area.

The storm, which moved through Tulare, California, was captured on video as it barreled into a parking lot, creating a towering wall of dust. The footage shows the thick cloud descending and enveloping the area.

“What is going on in the Valley? They say a big dust storm is happening. Crazy!” a voice can be heard remarking in the video, as the dust cloud continued to roll in.

In response to the hazardous conditions, the National Weather Service (NWS) office in the San Joaquin Valley issued a Dust Storm Advisory on Monday afternoon, covering Tulare County and neighboring counties. The advisory warned of significantly reduced visibility, creating dangerous driving conditions.

As the dust settled, the storm’s impact became more visible. The video shows light poles shaking and a thick haze blanketing the parking lot, underscoring the severity of the conditions. “We’re in a dust storm!” the narrator says as the camera pans to a nearby road, where a car cautiously navigates through the dense dust.

In Fresno County, conditions intensified, prompting the NWS to escalate the advisory to a Dust Storm Warning, urging drivers to stay vigilant and proceed with caution.
