Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northwest Louisiana Through 2:15 PM
Bienville Parish, Louisiana —
What is happening:
The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Bienville Parish, south central Claiborne Parish, north central Red River Parish, and southeastern Webster Parish in northwestern Louisiana, in effect through 2:15 PM CST Tuesday. At 1:31 PM CST, a line of severe thunderstorms stretched from about 6 miles southwest of Heflin to 7 miles southwest of Ringgold, moving northeast at 25 mph. Communities in the path include Ringgold, Gibsland, Dubberly, Heflin, Lucky, Castor, Bienville, Jamestown, Bryceland, Mount Lebanon, Sailes, and the Lake Bistineau North area.
Local impacts:
These storms are producing 60 mph wind gusts, as indicated by radar. Damaging winds of that strength can tear at roofs and siding and bring down trees and power lines. A tornado can also develop quickly from severe thunderstorms like these, so the threat is not wind alone.
What to do:
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows.
If a tornado warning is issued or you see signs of a tornado, move immediately to an interior room on the lowest floor.
Stay indoors until the warning expires and avoid driving through the storms.
