Kivalina, Alaska —
## What is happening:
A Blizzard Warning is in effect for Kivalina, Red Dog Dock, and the Northern Seward Peninsula from 10 AM Friday through 4 AM Saturday (Alaska time), issued by the National Weather Service in Fairbanks. Snow will combine with powerful winds Friday to create blizzard conditions along the northwest coast.
## Local impacts:
Expect 1 to 3 inches of snow with gusts as high as 55 miles per hour. Blowing snow will cut visibility — in places to less than a quarter of a mile — making travel dangerous. Very strong winds could also cause power outages.
## What to do:
- Travel should be restricted to emergencies only.
- Bring a winter survival kit if you have to go out.
- If you become stranded, stay with your vehicle.
